STEELMAN Wireless ChassisEAR 61082 picks up squeaks, knocks and stray noises on the engine, axles and suspension. Clamp the transmitters at different points and listen while the car is moving — sounds that never show up in the bay often appear on a road test.
The kit has four independent transmitters. Each has its own receiver channel: switch, mute and compare them to find the source. Range is about 15 m (50 ft), enough for cars and larger vehicles. Listen on the built-in speaker or through 3.5 mm headphones. LEDs show signal strength; the active channel lights up.
In the box: 4 transmitters, receiver, mini earphones, 4 lead/clamp microphones, nylon and hook-and-loop straps, AA/AAA batteries, location notepad, manual and a hard case. The 61082 series does not work with older ChassisEAR 60635 and 97202 units. Spare leads and sensors are sold separately. Ordered with a VibroPro stand, the kit costs less than buying it alone.
